The last days...

Here at Smart Living Objects we don’t like to nag - life is just beautiful after all - but sometimes the urge to do so anyway is basically just too strong :)
We’re all very excited about going online this Monday, but unfortunately our computer system doesn’t seem to share that joy the last couple of days. It just won’t work with us. Server errors, Outlook difficulties, you name it and we had it. Don’t worry though, you will be able to shop and all (tiny) problems will get solved by the deadline. Everything always ends well, right?

Enough about ICT-annoyances. Monday is the Big Day and so we would like to introduce you to a new product. XLBoom came up with the idea together with London designer Finn Stone (you must remember him from our famous Ball Chair). We present to you: the Olee Table.

The Olee Table is a side tabe made of recycled ABS, after which it’s treated with a high quality paint made by DuPont. You can put it next to your favourite Ball Chair, but we think it suits better next to a sofa. Even better, you can slide the lower part under it. That way you get a little platform close to you on the couch on which you can put your laptop or some drinks. Either way, it’s your house and your rules and we don’t want to put pressure on anyone here ;)

Maybe you’ve seen it already, maybe not, but you can spot the Olee Table also on our Facebook page. Have a quick look and if you like what you see, you can always let us now by liking the page.

That’s it for now. Thanks to our server here, we know what to do. The last pieces of lead really are the heaviest!

See you next week.

Back to school

September has just started and we all know what that means: time for toddlers, kids, youngsters and teachers to head back to school. We also know school isn’t the most fun place where you can spend your precious time, but we have some pretty cool stuff in our assortment that makes it all easier to bear. The products we’re now going to present to you are all part of the Extra Large collection, a collection that offers real and functional objects in an extra-large size.

Alarm

Research shows that teenagers have major difficulties getting out of bed. Well, they (and everybody else) will no longer arrive late thanks to this Extra Large Alarm. No more excuses (hey, it’s just impossible to sleep through this), just get up - get up - get up :)

The Alarm is available in silver, red and black.

XXL Back Pack

So after you got up, are all freshened up and had breakfast, it’s time to pack your back pack. With the workload in schools these days, we think our XXL Back Pack would do just fine to take to school, but it wouldn’t be that good for the children’s backs.
Nevertheless it’s definitely something kids can use in their day to day life. You can easily turn it into a toy box or a laundry basket.

The XXL Back Pack is available in pink and blue.

Stationary

In order to do a proper job in class, kids have to have good stationary. All our tools work perfectly, but some of them have such big sizes it’s almost impossible to actually use them in class. However, they make great toys.

Eraser

The Eraser is one of our Extra Large products you can use in school. It’s so large, you can keep making mistakes. Until the end of your school career :)

Pencils and Ruler

Although you can write with them, we admit the Extra Large Pencils are a tad too big to fit your pen pocket and okay, the same goes for the ruler. But both gadgets are really fun to play with in your room or study. The Ruler is an excellent tool for measuring yourself and the Pencil allows you to show your most creative side.

The ruler is available in red, black, white and silver.

Paperclip

The last product that we’re going to introduce and which is very handy is the Extra Large Paperclip. Like a normal paperclip, this one too holds papers and documents together, albeit in larger amounts. In other words, you can store copy books, papers and grammar books in there. Much cooler than boring shelves, right?

The Extra Large Paperclip is available in red, black, white and silver.

We hope this information was useful and that we created some kind of need to buy products of the Extra Large collection ; )

Either way, we wish you, your children and/or significant other a great start of the new school year.

See you next week!

Product in the picture: the Ball Chair

Our website isn’t online yet and that’s exactly why we think it would be a good thing to introduce you to one of the products we’re most proud of, the Ball Chair. When you type in 'Ball Chair' in a search engine, chances are high you will also see the 60’s classic:

Very beautiful indeed, but not our design. Unfortunately? No, because we’re very happy with ours :)

Tadaaah…

The Ball Chair is designed by Finn Stone, an Irish artist who lives in London. XLBoom manufactures the seat in recycled ABS. It’s treated with a high-gloss paint made by DuPont . See how it’s produced:

The treatment with the high-gloss paint allows you to use the Ball Chair indoors and outdoors. Look, it’s paradise:

The chair comes in many different colours. Which one is your favourite?

Although it has quite a sleek design, the Ball Chair is very comfortable. As Mr. Whiskerson here is trying to tell you:

Did you know we also sell a Ball Chair especially made for kids? We bet you didn’t:) Below you can see a couple of Baby Ball Chairs next to a regular one:

Ideal for though toddlers and giggly girls and their dolls.

Now that you know almost everything there is to know about our famous Ball Chair, you can start thinking about which ones you will order as of 17th September ;)

We’ll see you next week!

Test 1, 2, 3...

With only 4 more weeks to go, it’s high time for some things to gain momentum. The SEO process is almost finished (please Google, be kind to us:) ) and the next priority on our list was test packaging. It’s one thing to sell high quality products through a web shop, but getting them to the customer scratch free is –of course – another.
The test carton boxes had already been delivered and today Paul from Easypack taught us how we should safely pack frames, mirrors and other breakable accessories. He provided us with a so called Pack Mate, a device with which you can make some kind of paper slings. They’re fully made of recycled paper and are very kind for nature and that’s what we find most important. How do they call that again? Right, a win-win situation:)

Now, once you’ve made the slings with the machine you can fold them how you want and put them in boxes, in a way that they protect the product you want to send.

The most important thing is that the product doesn’t break during transport, so Paul tested that extensively by throwing the parcel several times on the floor. In the parcel was a Floating Box, one of our picture frames that contain quite a lot of glass:

The whole process made us quite hopeful, as none of us heard the sound of breaking glass. When the test was finished and we opened the package, this is what came out:

Wohooo, we succeeded! No broken glass whatsoever. We will of course do more tests and send packages to several addresses abroad to make sure customers receive their parcel as it’s supposed to be.

Besides testing, writing and thinking we also like to browse the web to look for sleek design objects that would match ours or that are in a similar style. Nice design doesn’t have to be expensive and the Pearl Bookcase is a perfect example of that:

It’s available in 3 colours and is designed by Modloft, an American furniture brand. We like!

One of our top selling products is the Ball Chair and when we discovered the Espresso Maker by the Czech designer Martin Necas, we almost couldn’t believe there was an accessory that matches our somewhat futuristic chair as good as that one does. Or do you disagree?

Martin Necas has some other great designs, we also like the very sleek Washbasin Mixer Tap with its edgy contours and its ingenious tap system. A designer to keep an eye on, if you ask us.

Ok, it’s time to focus on the last bits of SEO and after that we need to brainstorm once more about all kinds of things. In the meantime we wish you loads of fun and hope to see you soon!

And so it begins...

…almost at least, as the Big Kick Off is not until 17th September. Then all design adepts will be more than welcome to visit our brand new online store, Smart Living Objects. Right now you’ll only find a ‘Coming Soon’ page there, but we figured it would be nice to give you the link :)

Smart Living Objects offers high quality design with an austere, timeless and understandable character. If that description sounds a bit woolly to you, these pictures will definitely make it clearer:

In the online store you will find chairs, tables and other furniture, a wide range of handmade picture frames, all sorts of accessories and the Extra Large collection. For more sneak previews, you can visit our Facebook page.

The Smart Living Objects store was created by the founders of XLBoom. XLBoom sells the same products, but focuses on wholesale in large parts of Europe. Yet, the company received enthusiastic reactions from people all over the world who wanted to know where they could buy the products. Obviously there were plenty of areas where the XLBoom collection was unavailable. And so the idea arose to start with an online store in order to reach, well, basically everyone :)

We have about one month until the Big Release and that means we have to look into every detail once more and make sure we get it all right. But don’t worry, we will keep you up to date about the last developments here at Smart Living Objects.

We can already tell you this: the whole team is very much looking forward to this adventure and will enjoy every single bit. We hope you will like our products and look forward to seeing you back soon.
